EF 17-40mm f/4L USM. OR. EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM. Thanks. Hmmm, you are aware that these are two totally different focal lengths, and that the problems you are talking about with the 17-40 are more pronounced on a FF body (on which it is a UWA lens), but would be cropped on your body. Presumably you already have a lens in the 17/18- 50/55
MTF (resolution) The EF 17-40mm f/4 L showed an excellent performance in the lab. It's quite safe to assume that the peak performance in the center exceeded the resolution limits of the 8 megapixel sensor of the EOS 350D. Dear all, I am picking out a new kit for a trip to the Galapagos in May and am trying to select what lenses to bring along. I am thinking of purchasing either of these lenses to complement an EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM (or should I get a EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM plus Extender EF 2x III?).
Canon 17-40mm. Image quality is a significant step up from the kit lens with good sharpness across the frame. The low light performance is limited due the the constant f/4 aperture but a boost in ISO will still make it useable and it is still better than the f/5.6 kit lens. Most DSLR photographers are looking to upgrade to a full frame camera
